IT support for social care organisations
Reliable, secure IT that supports better care
One IT Support provides managed IT support for care homes, home care agencies, supported living providers and other social care organisations across Newcastle and the North East. We help providers keep digital care records available, protect personal data and meet the data security expectations of the CQC, the NHS and local authority commissioners.
What IT challenges do social care providers face?
Social care is going digital, with providers moving to digital social care records and care staff relying on mobile devices throughout their shifts. Providers that access NHS data or systems are expected to complete the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), and the national Better Security, Better Care programme helps the sector to do so.
Care settings also depend on telecare, nurse call and alarm equipment, much of which was designed for analogue lines. With the PSTN switch-off on 31 January 2027, these services need to be checked and migrated safely. Wi-Fi blackspots, shared devices and staff turnover add further pressure on small management teams.
Frequently asked questions
Providers that access NHS patient data or systems are expected to complete it each year, and many commissioners ask for it. We help with the technical evidence and fix any gaps.
Not necessarily. Equipment that relies on analogue lines may need upgrading. We can help you identify affected lines and plan the migration with your equipment suppliers.
Yes. We survey the building and design a managed wireless network that removes blackspots, so staff can use mobile devices and digital care records throughout.
